Feeding advice is usually written as though the year is uniform. Here it is not, and the adjustments are small but they matter.
Summer: appetite drops, water rises
Many animals eat less in the hottest months. That is normal provided weight holds. What must not drop is water intake - a separate bowl away from the food, refreshed twice a day, does more than any supplement.
Feed at the cooler ends of the day
A main meal in the early morning or after dark is easier on an animal than one at midday. Keep the times consistent even as you move them.
Monsoon: storage becomes the issue
Humidity spoils dry food faster than the printed date suggests. Sealed containers, smaller quantities, and a look at the food before it goes in the bowl.
Winter: slightly more, then back again
Cold nights raise the requirement a little. The trap is not reducing it again in February, which is how winter weight becomes permanent weight.
What should not change
Portioning by your vet's target weight rather than by appetite, phasing any brand change over a week, and never feeding spiced household food.
