Sun Conure

The Sun Conure is a small dog, loud, typically living 20–30 years. Central India runs hot and dry for much of the year, and that shapes the first twelve months with this breed more than anything in the breed standard does.

Health work is completed before listing, and the records travel with the dog.

Caring for a Sun Conure in central India

• Heat: shade and water are not optional here. Move activity to the early morning from March onward.
• Company: these are social birds - hours of silence are as hard on them as a poor diet.
• Perches: varying diameters, natural wood rather than all dowel, to keep feet healthy.
• Nails and beak: checked periodically; overgrowth signals a diet or perch problem.
• Checks: an annual vet visit booked before the hot months, not during them.
