The Blue Sided is a small dog, playful, typically living 15–20 years. Central India runs hot and dry for much of the year, and that shapes the first twelve months with this breed more than anything in the breed standard does.

• Heat: shade and water are not optional here. Move activity to the early morning from March onward.
• Diet: pellets and fresh vegetables, not an all-seed bowl. Never avocado, chocolate or caffeine.

• Company: these are social birds - hours of silence are as hard on them as a poor diet.
