Is the Dusky Lorikeet right for Korai's climate?
Korai has a warm and humid climate, which means the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important. The Dusky Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed, and with the right routine it adapts well here. Keep bedding dry and the resting area well-ventilated, especially during the monsoon. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues. Raising a Dusky Lorikeet in Korai: local climate
Korai is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Dusky Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from June to October, and August is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Dusky Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 27 | 32 | 37 | 40 | 39 | 34 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 28 | 26 |
| Low °C | 13 | 16 | 21 | 24 | 26 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 22 | 17 | 14 |
