Is the Dusky Lorikeet right for Barang's climate?
Barang has a humid coastal climate, which means moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips. The Dusky Lorikeet is a small-sized, family friendly, good with kids breed, and with the right routine it adapts well here. Brush regularly — humidity makes mats and tangles form faster in longer coats. Dry the coat and ears thoroughly after baths or rain to prevent fungal and skin issues. Through the long monsoon in particular, small adjustments keep your bird comfortable and healthy.

Raising a Dusky Lorikeet in Barang: local climate
Barang is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Dusky Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Dusky Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 27 | 31 | 36 | 40 | 39 | 34 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 28 | 26 |
| Low °C | 13 | 17 | 21 | 25 | 27 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 22 | 17 | 13 |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
